Former professional runner Erchana Murray-Bartlett finished her 150th consecutive marathon January 15, aiming to break the Guinness world record of 106, which was set last August, according to The Guardian. On August 20, 2022, Murray-Bartlett, 32, set out from Cape York, Queensland, Australia, an area with rugged terrain known as 'the tip,' and headed south toward Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in an effort she called 'tip to toe.' Murray-Bartlett, who missed out on qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, decided to run the length of Australia to raise awareness of Australian plants and animals at risk for extinction, according to the BBC.
